As we await SIU’s spring-enrollment figures, let’s take a look at how the university did last autumn. We’d call it fall, but that’s redundant, as enrollment dropped further than at anytime since Nightlife began tracking it. Last semester, total enrollment was down 6,022 from the 1991 peak of 24,869, and on-campus enrollment fell by 5,195 from its 1991 high of 21,999. Meanwhile, the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign and Southeast Missouri State University set enrollment records.
