Josh Ditto is a musician at heart.

He started playing music about 2006 with the progressive death metal band Hope for the Dying, which included musicians from Southern Illinois and one member from Cape Girardeau.

The band has achieved success, signing with Facedown Records in 2008, and has went on to tour and released four albums with the label. Its latest album “Legacy” released in March 2016.

However, music isn’t all that drives Ditto.

“While I do have a true love for music and touring, I also had a desire to take root in my local community and spend more time at home with my family,” he said in an email.

In 2012, Ditto and his wife, Treena, opened Tech Guy Consulting in Anna. The company manages information technology services for more than 100 businesses in Southern Illinois, including school districts, medical facilities, municipalities and several more industries.

Additionally, Josh and Treena, opened a photography studio, JT Photo in Anna.

Ditto said the photography studio is a new way to express himself.

“JT Photo has been a great outlet for me to continue to pursue my creative side, where I haven’t had as much time for music,” he said in an email. “I really enjoy the creative process and love planning shoots from start to finish.”

He said the studio specializes in wedding photography and artistic portraiture, but also offer senior photos, business headshots and other services. Additionally, the stuido offers family and newborn photos. Ditto said many of the company’s shots are taken at a location, however, there is also a fully outfitted studio in Anna at 101 Springfield Ave., Suite 2.

The entrepreneurial juices didn’t stop flowing with just IT work and photography, as Josh and his wife also launched Cardinal Wireless in July.

The wireless internet company offers high speed internet to many towns and rural areas in Southern Illinois.

“Our current towers service Anna, Jonesboro, Dongola, and some areas South of Dongola,” Ditto said. “We have 3 towers deployed with plans to deploy 2 more this year. We operated a ’fixed wireless’ internet company, by bringing fiber internet to our towers, and then broadcasting wirelessly to our customers.”

He said with its current expansion schedule, the company’s service area should reach the southern side of Carbondale by the end of 2017.
